Health and Human Services offering back-to-school vaccine clinic with extended hours
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Families needing to vaccinate children ahead of the 2026-27 school year can utilize a clinic being offered by New Hanover County Health and Human Services.
Any child from birth through 18 years old who will be enrolled in school or daycare in the coming academic year can visit the clinic to receive the necessary vaccines for their appropriate age group. The clinic, which is located at 1650 Greenfield Street, will operate under normal business hours on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m., as well as 8 a.m.-5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The clinic will also offer extended hours from 8 a.m.-6:45 p.m. on the following days:
- Tuesday, August 18
- Tuesday, September 1
- Tuesday, September 15
- Thursday, September 24
“We want to make sure every child in New Hanover County has access to the vaccines they need ahead of the coming school year. These extended hours give parents and caregivers the flexibility to come on their schedule,” said Health Director Jon Campbell. “Immunizations are crucial to the health of each individual child as well as our school populations. Together, we can limit the potential spread of these diseases and keep our children safe.”
Visitors to the clinic are asked to bring any available insurance information, however every child will be vaccinated no matter their insurance status. Additionally, families should bring each child’s vaccine history. Vaccines will only be administered if a child is in the North Carolina Immunization Registry system or has a vaccination record from another state. Spanish interpreters will be on-site and additional language translation services will be available.
Vaccines offered at the clinic include:
- TDaP (Tetanus, Diphteria, Pertussis)/DTap
- Polio
- Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A
- Meningitis A, C, W, Y (required for seventh and 12th grades) and Meningitis B
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rebella)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- HIB (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
- Prevnar 20 (pneumococcal pneumonia)
- Rotavirus
- HPV (human papillomavirus)
